NEW TECHNOLOGY Signs currently being manufactured are of a new technology. For years the incandescent lamps have served Sky Sign and it's operators. However, with premature lamp failure and poor lamp intensity, it required us to pursue a lamp that would operate with minimum failure, and with such intensity to be easily seen through all the high light situations encountered operating a Sky Sign at night. Working with Japanese lamp manufacturers for four years, we came up with a lamp that would do the job. The new signs are in no way comparable to older signs of the past. The electronics, lamp driver and wiring are now made to operate the Xenon gas lamps. The new signs with the Xenon lamps provide a clear white appearance with brilliance many times greater than the old incandescent lamps. Razor sharp clarity provides readability at greater altitude and distance. Lamp reliability has proven itself as one of our operators has just recently reported, that he has operated the sign for over 170 hours with a total operating expense of $4.50 for 3 lamps. This is the most advanced design change in the history of Sky Sign and we feel the investment of designing this new system will pay off for everyone for decades to come.
