The Sky Sign display is 8 ft. by 36 ft. and weighs
less than 100 lbs. including computer, lampdriver, display and attaching
hardware. The display has 252 lamps that are mounted in a push and twist socket
surrounded by a special reflector to amplify the light so as not to distract
the pilot. The display is made of three 8X12 foot panels of 84 lights each.
This design provides for easy shipment to your city and minimum storage when
not in use. The standard generator or alternator will provide ample power to
operate the Sky Sign system. Initial installation requires an A&P mechanic
and helper for approximately 3 days. For normal day to day use the display can
be installed in less than 45 minutes and removed in less than 30 minutes by an
authorized person. With the display removed the aircraft reverts back to it's
normal cosmetic appearance. There are no unusual flight characteristics with
exception of a reduction of forward speed. An altitude of 1000 feet above the
ground provides the best audience readability.

An off the shelf laptop with XP,VISTA or Windows 7 Operating Systems will operate the sign. The Sky Sign windows based V4000 software program was developed with ease of programming and flight operation in mind. The upper section of the laptop screen has a sign monitor showing exactly what the sign display is showing. The laptop provides a perfect tool to show a prospective customer a preview of what their message will look like on the sign. A laptop with DVD capability can also show the sign in flight. Messages can be created in the travel, flash, logo, sweep left/right, roll up/down, inverse so the sign can be read while flying away. Computers with wireless cards will be able to receive sign messages from the ground. The lampdriver controls all lamps via the
signal cable from the computer. Dimensions are 9X18X3 inches. |
